Alzheimer's and dementia can affect anyone as they age. If you have an aging loved one it is important that you know the signs to look for so you can detect the illness early and get your loved one the help that they need. They may need care in an assisted living center so it is important to know when it is time to admit your loved into a treatment center. Here are some things to look for in your loved one.
1. Your Loved One Is Becoming Violent Or Aggressive
One symptom of dementia that many people overlook is personality changes. Someone who may have always been very kind, soft-spoken, and gentle could become aggressive, mean and violent. It is very common for the person to experience aggressive outbursts and to become mean to those they love. This does not necessarily mean that your loved one has changed; instead it means that the disease is taking over their brain and causing them to do things they normally wouldn't do.
When you notice these changes it is important to get help. For the safety of your loved one and yourself, you need to get them into a care center that can deal with the outbursts and protect those around the ill individual.
2. Your Loved One Is Becoming Paranoid
Another sign to look for is paranoia. Your loved one may feel like someone is always watching them, that some fictional agency is out to get them, or even that you, their family member, are trying to harm them. These kinds of delusional thoughts may cause your loved one to act in dangerous ways. They might try to run away, fight against you, refuse to take medications and much more. This is something that should not be ignored.
3. Your Loved One Is Wandering and Forgetting Things
Lastly, you need to look for signs that your loved one is forgetting important things and wandering. It is normal to forget simple things, like where they put their shoes, but it is not normal for them to forget where they were going, get lost in familiar places and so forth. You don't want your loved one to go for a walk and forget how to get home. This is a sign that it is time to get treatment and full-time care for your loved one.
These are just a couple signs to look for in your loved one. If you notice any of these signs you should consider a full time assisted living center like Bethesda Health Care Facility.Share

Having a daughter comes with a number of challenges. One challenge that you will one day need to tackle is determining when to introduce your daughter to the gynecologist. Do you take your daughter to the same gynecologist that you see or take her somewhere else? Do you wait until she gets her first period or do you take her in to learn about the menstrual cycle from the doctor? There is a long list of questions you likely have about introducing your daughter to the world of gynecology. Having gone through this twice myself, I have learned quite a bit and have included a lot of helpful information in my site to help other parents get through this complicated time a little easier.
