3 Things That You Shouldn't Wear To Your First Pregnancy Abdominal Ultrasound

Blog

If you are getting ready for your very first pregnancy abdominal ultrasound, you are probably pretty excited about seeing your little one for the first time. The last thing that might be on your mind is what you are going to be wearing  to the appointment, but wearing the right clothing can make the whole event a lot more comfortable. These are a few things that you will not want to wear to your first pregnancy ultrasound.

1. Tight-Fitting Pants

You might want to look your best for such an important appointment, but one thing that you will probably not want to wear is a pair of tight-fitting pants. Even at the best of ultrasound offices, such as Central Iowa OB/Gyn Specialists, PLC, you may find yourself having to wait for your appointment. The last thing that you want to worry about is your tight-fitting pants binding up on your baby bump, so skip the tight pants.

2. A Dress

Since tight-fitting clothing isn't a good idea, wearing a loose, flowy dress might seem like the best choice. However, if you are having an abdominal ultrasound, you will need to be able to expose your belly for the appointment. Obviously, this can leave you in a stage of undress that you might not want to be in if you are wearing a dress. Your ultrasound technician can provide you with a hospital-style gown if necessary, but you'll probably feel more comfortable in your own clothing.

3. A Complicated Top

You will probably be asked to pull up your shirt to expose your belly, so make sure that you wear a shirt that makes it easy for you to do so. A button-down shirt can be ideal, since you can unbutton the bottom buttons but leave the top ones fully buttoned for modesty. However, a T-shirt or just about any other shirt will work just fine, as long as it isn't too tight or too complicated style-wise for you to pull it up and down easily and comfortably.

Your first pregnancy abdominal ultrasound appointment can be pretty exciting, and you don't want your clothing choices to get in the way of the joy of the big day. Therefore, you'll probably want to consider these three things when choosing the perfect outfit for your appointment. If you have further questions about what you should wear or what you should expect at your appointment, contact your doctor or ultrasound technician beforehand for more information.

introducing your daughter to the gynecologist

Having a daughter comes with a number of challenges. One challenge that you will one day need to tackle is determining when to introduce your daughter to the gynecologist. Do you take your daughter to the same gynecologist that you see or take her somewhere else? Do you wait until she gets her first period or do you take her in to learn about the menstrual cycle from the doctor? There is a long list of questions you likely have about introducing your daughter to the world of gynecology. Having gone through this twice myself, I have learned quite a bit and have included a lot of helpful information in my site to help other parents get through this complicated time a little easier.
